Artwork in the room
"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+
This painting presents a dense and lush forest captured with broad, textured brushstrokes that convey the wild, untamed nature of the woods. The trees, tinged in varying shades of deep greens and blacks, reach upwards into a lighter, muted sky. The forest floor and the foreground area are depicted in strokes of green, yellow, and white, suggesting a meadow kissed by light, perhaps at the cusp of different seasons or times of day. The artist's use of impasto technique adds a palpable richness to the scene, making the trees appear almost three-dimensional, as if they are truly standing guard over the secretive depths of the forest they enclose. The overall mood of the painting is one of quiet solitude and the majesty of nature standing untouched by human influence.
